Brainstorming Session:
Arcadian Painting Machines.
Kristen, Keith, Margaret, and Sabrina met for a morning to try out some ideas for the upcoming PIE workshop in September. We were testing ideas for the third day of the workshop. Here's the tentative plan:
Painting Machines
Create a machine that senses change in the garden and uses that information to make a painting.
Questions:
What examples will we show to give people a sense of the scale, complex enough in thought, but simple enough in construction to get people started? What is paint?  What do we mean by "painting?" is it permanent, is it temporary (light on retroreflective),  Make a painting on the screen, using Scratch.
Morning:
Explore the Big Back Yard (the museum's outdoor exhibit) and brainstorm changes you could detect (wind, sun, movement of people or animals, rain).   Brainstorm how to build sensors or switches. Play with mechanics for painting:   cardboard/Lego modules for moving a brush, paper, paint, or water.   Plan and begin working on machines.
Afternoon:
Build projects
